The world has more consumers than creators

We're seeing a turning point in human behaviour.

We used to use tools to create.

And one of the most powerful tools we've got are computers (laptops, desktops, phones, tablets, …).

But we are using computers more to consume content than to produce them.

We are trading the pleasure of creating for the pleasure of consuming.

The first is sustainable and fulfilling in the long term, the later only provides immediate, short term satisfaction - and we keep needing more to maintain the dopamine levels high.

We all have a hunger for something. Someone who likes drawing and sketching might feel the urge to start scribbling something in a piece of paper.

But if instead, we loose ourselves looking at others drawings in social media, we might feel that hunger disappear. We shouldn't be letting that sparkle, that hunger slowly go away.

Keep drawing, taking pictures, writing stories, making movies, crafting something with your bare hands… Do it for the sake of it, with no other purpose than the pure self satisfaction of creating something.
